Water to adopt the “pay as you fetch approach”- Sanitation and Water Resource Minister

The minister for sanitation and water resources, Hon Cecilia Abena Dapaah has hinted of the the adoption of the pay as you fetch approach in our water distribution systems.

This according to her will help reduce drastically the issue of water wasting by households, which goes a long way to affect our country in the distribution process of portable water.

She further noted that one will be served according to the amount requested and after it has been discharged, it will system automatically seize.

This according to her will be more easier for the Ghanaian consumer, and help channel water that would have been wasted to communities who eagerly need them for domestic use.

The minister was speaking at this years MOLE 32nd WASH conference which is under the theme; “Repositioning the WASH sector for Emergency Response and Sustainable Development”.

Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah noted the theme was apt and called for the need to prepare for an emergency response for a well equipped action to emergency issues in WASH.

Though Ghana is endowed with a 52 cubic meters of water, the minister noted the need to get partners to help salvage these water bodies from further destruction can not be under emphasized.

She therefore called on stakeholders to help government to address these challenges bedeviling water bodies in the country, by investing in the purification of these water for consumption and for the future generations to come.

She meanwhile hinted of the near completion of the National Sanitation Authority(NSA)bill that is currently before parliament for consideration.
