Asante Kotoko part ways with striker Sampson Eduku after Underwhelming Spell
Asante Kotoko have parted ways with striker Sampson Eduku just months after his highly anticipated arrival in January.

The 29-year-old forward, who signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with the Porcupine Warriors earlier this year, has now parted ways with the club following an uninspiring spell that failed to meet expectations.
Eduku joined Kotoko in a bid to bolster the club’s attacking options during the second round of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season but struggled to replicate his previous form.
Eduku arrived at Kotoko with a strong reputation, having scored 14 goals and provided 4 assists during the 2022/23 campaign with Tamale City, making him one of the league’s standout performers.
His exploits earned him a move to Al Quwa Al Jawiya in the Iraqi Premier League, where he continued to show flashes of his goal-scoring ability.
Kotoko’s management, however, made the decision to cut ties with the experienced forward after he failed to make a significant impact in Kumasi.
His limited appearances and lack of goals ultimately led to the club deeming him surplus to requirements as they begin reshaping their squad for the upcoming 2025/26 season — which includes participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The club issued no official statement beyond confirming the mutual parting of ways, but insiders suggest the technical team is now shifting focus toward younger and more dynamic attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
Asante Kotoko continues its squad restructuring efforts, with multiple departures confirmed and several negotiations ongoing for both contract renewals and new signings.
