The Northern Regional Director of the Food and Drug Authority (FDA), Mr. Martin Kusi, has urged Ghanaians to master the art of washing their reusable mask on daily basis to avoid contracting sickness from pathogens that may settle there in.
According to him some of the materials used for the manufacturing of these reusable mask harbor pathogens which are not good for the human health.
Mr. Kusi who made this known Yesterday May 05, 2020, on FiilaFm’s Morning show during a discussion on what manufactures should know about FDA and what the public should be looking out for in purchasing supplies during the era of covid 19, noted that Ghanaians should buy products that meets standards of approval.
In his presentation the Director indicated that during this period where almost everyone is into the production of face /nose mask, only 42 businesses have gone through approval in the Nation’s capital, with none recorded in the Northern region.
This according to him is worrying because businesses that come for approval at the FDA are given technical advice on how to use their raw materials in their right quantities for the benefit of both the producer and the consumer.
The Northern Regional Director of FDA who has oversight responsibility on both the North East and Savanna Regions entreated institutions to make the wearing of mask a priority for both their officers and visitors.
He stressed that the “No wearing of Mask,No entry” should be adopted nationwide for we are not in normal times, so that people who do not wear a mask are not allowed entry into institutions.
