GFA will pick lessons from Black Stars AFCON collapse and turn things around – Henry Asante Twum assures
Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has assured that they will turn things around following Black Stars' failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The country’s football governing body has come under massive pressure after the senior national team failed to secure qualification for the continent’s biggest football tournament.
Despite the calls for the dismissal of Otto Addo for failing to win a game during the qualifiers, Asante Twum says the GFA will pick lessons from the team’s failure to qualify for the tournament and turn things around in the next edition of the AFCON.
“We have to pick useful lessons from our failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament,” he assured during an interview with Sporty FM.
“We can only build on this disappointment and go into the next phase of our qualifiers in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and build on that and hopeful we will make it to the World Cup and hopefully turn things around in the next editions of the AFCON,” he added.
Ghana finished at the bottom of Group F with three points after recording three defeats and three draws.
This is the first time the four-time African champions have failed to qualify for the AFCON tournament in two decades.
