Young Boys Frauen announce signing of Black Queens defender Josephine Bonsu
Swiss giants Young Boys Frauen have announced the signing of Black Queens defender Josephine Bonsu.

The German-born Ghanaian inked a two-year deal to join the the female team on Young Boys from Carl Zeiss Jena.
The 26-year-old will officially join her new teammates at the end of the Women Africa Cup of Nations next month.
Bonsu moved to Switzerland after outstanding campaign with Carl Zeiss in the Bundesliga, having helped the club secure promotion two seasons ago.
The Black Queens defender made 85 appearances for the club in the top two divisions of German women’s football.
“Welcome to the YB Women’s team, Josephine!” wrote the club, welcoming their new player.
The versatile defender began her football career at Alemannia Haselhorst, where she played with the boys until the U15 level. She later moved to 1 FC Lübars before joining the youth academy of 1 FC Union Berlin in 2015. She was immediately promoted to the first team after a year with the U17’s.
Five years ago, Bonsu joined Türkiyemspor Berlin in the Regionalliga (fourth tier). A year later (2022), she transferred to FC Carl Zeiss Jena.
Bonsu enjoyed a good start to WAFCON 2026 after she was named Woman of the Match following the Black Queens’ victory over Cape Verde on Wednesday.
