Yaw Yeboah set to join MLS Expansion side San Diego FC

Ghana winger Yaw Yeboah is closing in on a move to Major League Soccer Expansion side San Diego FC. 

The former Black Meteors attacking midfielder ended his stay with Columbus Crew after the 2023 MLS champions failed to trigger his contract option.

However, the 27-year-old is eligible for the MLS Re-Entry Process, which allows him to be drafted into a new club.

Yeboah, a product of the Right to Dream Academy, who are also part of the owners of San Diego, will add the experience of the Ghanaian to the team ahead of their inaugural campaign.

The Ghana international’s career has seen him feature in four top European leagues including France and Spain. He started his career in England with Manchester City before moving to Lille in France and later to the Dutch Eredivisie, where he starred for FC Twente.

In Spain, he played for Numancia, Real Oviedo and Celta Vigo but it was in  Poland, where he hogged the headlines with his performances for Wisla Krakow.

He moved to the United States in 2021 to sign for Columbus Crew. He is fondly remembered by Crew fans for the winner in the MLS final against LA FC.
