The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II has congratulated Prime Minister Mio Mottley and people of Barbados on the anniversary of their independence marked on Tuesday 30th November and the feat of attaining a Republican status.
According to the Ya-Na the tenacity of her leadership proved worthwhile as Prime Minister Mottley had chalked a great success for the people of Barbados.
In a statement issued and signed by Mr. Mohammed Abdul Rahman, Secretary to the Ya-Na in Yendi, the Ya-Na recounted with fond memories, the visit of Prime Minister Mottley to Yendi during the 2019 Damba festival.
According to the statement, the Ya-Na and the people of Dagbon join their brothers and sisters in the Caribbean Island to celebrate Barbados Independence Day Anniversary and also share the excitement of the country’s attainment of a Republican status. ‘
‘This is a great day for our brothers and sisters as they celebrate this year’s independence as a Republic,’ he said.
”I wish every citizen of this great country a joyous celebration,” he continued.
Dagbon is very proud to be a friend of Barbados and cherish the camadereie between the people of Dagbon and the PM of Barbados.
The statement indicated that the doors of the Gbewaa Palace was open for increased relations between Dagbon and Barbados.
“We wish PM and everyone in Barbados a great independence celebration and look forward to deepening relations” said the Ya-Na.
