UTAG-UG hopeful book and research allowances will be paid by October 23

The University of Ghana branch of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG-UG) says it is hopeful that members’ book and research allowances will be paid by Friday, October 23, following the resolution of technical challenges on the Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System.
The Association had threatened to embark on a strike if the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department failed to release the funds.
Speaking to Citi News, UTAG-UG President, Jerry Joe Harrison, said the delay was initially caused by a strike by members of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), which prevented university officers responsible for processing the necessary documents from completing the process.
He explained that subsequent technical challenges, following changes to the Ministry of Finance’s system access arrangements, further delayed the process.
He, however, noted that the University of Ghana had completed the required processing and validation of documents on the GIFMIS platform, and the Association is awaiting the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to release the funds for payment.
