Tamale Springboard Roadshow: Gov’t much aware of challenges facing the youth – Finance Minister

Finance Minister, Ken Offori-Atta has said government over the years have “been very deliberate on the issue of economic freedom” and in building a confident society where young people can financially lift themselves up.

In line with this vision, he said government will find solutions to the many challenges facing the youth in Ghana, who he said constitutes about 75% of the Ghanaian population.

He said the world had changed in several ways amdst the COVID-19 pandemic and it was therefore important for the youth to reposition and equip themselves to take advantage of the new opportunities.

Whiles speaking at the Springboard 2021 Roadshow in Tamale, the Finance Minster urged the youth to constantly upgrade themselves in order to grab opportunities that come their way.

“retrain yourselves, educate yourselves in response to emerging opportunities”., the minister noted.

He advised the youth to have confidence in their dreams, and don’t give up on it, saying “you should pick yourself up when you fail and try again”.

The Finance Minister added that young people must reposition themselves to see opportunities even in the midst COVID-19.

The Northern regional Minister, in a brief remark urged the Finance Minister to make resources available to the various state agencies responsible for youth development to enhance their operations for better results.

He added that “organizers should also look at other areas and fashion out something to the teaming youth to be trained in special skills that will enhance business enterprises that they decide to venture into”.

The roadshow is a mentoring platform that generates conversations and interceptions between achievers and young people.

It discusses topics ranging from leadership, entrepreneurship, talent, investments and career development.

This year’s event which is the 15th edition was held on the theme “Repositioning; Bouncing Back From COVID-19 and Find Opportunities”.

Executive Director of the Springboard Roadshow Foundation, Mrs Comfort Ocran, said the Foundation would continue working with young people and equipping them to become significant leaders on the continent.

She said the changes that the world had seen especially with COVID-19 and the growth of technology and innovation meant that individuals, companies and nations now have to radically rethink the ways they do things and reposition themselves for the future.
