Sports Ministry to establish Local Organising Committee for Ghana’s 2027 U-20 AFCON
Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams is set to establish a Local Organising Committee (LOC) to oversee Ghana's preparations for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The committee is expected to coordinate all aspects of the tournament, including infrastructure, logistics, accommodation, security, marketing and competition operations, as Ghana gears up to host Africa’s top youth football competition.
Attention has now shifted to the continental tournament following the conclusion of the Black Satellites’ recent assignments, with the technical team expected to begin preparations for a refreshed squad ahead of the competition.
Ghana last hosted the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in 1999, when the Black Satellites lifted the title on home soil after defeating Nigeria in the final. The triumph remains one of the country’s greatest achievements at youth level and sparked nationwide celebrations.
The 2027 edition will hold additional significance as it coincides with Ghana’s 70th Independence anniversary, providing the country with an opportunity to celebrate the milestone while welcoming the continent’s best young footballers.
Ghana will be aiming to combine a successful tournament with a strong showing on the pitch as the Black Satellites chase a record-extending continental title in front of home supporters.
