Samini clears rumours about visit to GTA office; says GTA is for all Ghanaians

Reggae dancehall legend, Samini has cleared the air surrounding his recent visit and partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).

Samini and his management team paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of GTA, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey (Abeiku Santana) and discussed potential collaborations for SafariFest (Saminifest)—a cultural and creative arts festival set to take place later this year.

However, news of the visit enraged NDC foot soldiers mainly because the Reggae/Dancehall artiste is a known avid supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and were not pleased with Samini’s potential collaboration with the GTA.

Speaking in an interview with George Quaye on Joy Prime, Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Samini explained that his visit was purposely for business.

He dismissed claims that his visit secured him special favours which were meant for NDC party foot soldiers.

He added that a miscaptioned social media post by an NDC foot soldier created the negative impression.

“I believe that party foot soldiers should not make you feel like people are not Ghanaians anymore but things have to be for party and people who are in power only.

“I went there to introduce my project but a foot soldier put out a caption to suggest that Abeiku Santana invited me and then gave me a slice of bread.

“So it’s like now we are in power and there are things to be given to people to do, people are supposed to be benefitting from the bread that we’ve gotten and you are slicing the bread and giving it to people that went against us,” he said.

Samini reminded NDC foot soldiers that the GTA is a government institution mandated to serve all Ghanaians, not just political affiliates.

“Even if that was true, I would want to use this opportunity to educate a foot soldier that, that office Abeiku is sitting in, is not a party office and so if Ghana Tourism Authority as a platform is there and then every Ghanaian related to tourism should feel free and walk into that office and do tourism-related business with them,” he stressed.

He emphasized the value of diversity in national institutions, stressing that Ghana’s tourism and creative industries must transcend politics and provide equal opportunities for all citizens.
