Samartex GM Edmund Ackah vows to resign if club engages in match-fixing

FC Samartex 1996 General Manager Edmund Ackah has vowed to resign from his position if the club engages in any illegal activities, including match-fixing.

Ackah made the declaration in an interview with Asempa FM, expressing confidence in the club’s leadership and the management of its affairs.

The experienced football administrator, however, stressed that he would not continue in his role if the club became involved in any form of wrongdoing.

“I will resign from FC Samartex if the club engages in anything illegal or match-fixing,” he said.

Ackah has played a key role in Samartex’s development since becoming general manager, helping the Samreboi-based club win their maiden Ghana Premier League title in the 2023/24 season.

Meanwhile, Ackah has expressed disappointment over reports that Samartex’s home matches are not being broadcast on television.

He said the club had been told that its location and the distance involved were among the reasons for the decision, describing the explanation as unfair.

“I have heard that our games are not on television because of where we are located and the distance, but that is not fair,” he said.

Ackah also questioned concerns about the suitability of the Nsenkyire Sports Arena for live broadcasts, insisting that adequate security measures were in place.

“Our stadium is safe because there are CCTV cameras everywhere, so I don’t know why there will be that decision not to air our games,” he added.

Samartex will aim to return to winning ways when they host Bibiani Gold Stars at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in the Matchday Nine fixtures this weekend.

The Samreboi-based side dropped points away against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday and will be hoping to secure a positive result in front of their home supporters.
