NPP Is Ready and Prepared To Win 2024 Elections – Chairman Samba

The Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mohammed Baantima Samba, has stated the governing party is ready and prepared to win the 2024 general elections.

Speaking in an interview with Journalists after the NPP Super Delegates Conference on Saturday (August 26, 2023) in Tamale, Chairman Samba expressed his excitement about the outcome of the polls.

According to him, the elections was conducted in a very peaceful and friendly atmosphere showing that the party is very united and poised to break the 8 in 2024.

Mr. Samba further refuted the assertions that other contenders in the 10-man race and their agents were intimidated during the polls, reiterating the elections was a peacefully one.

“The party has gone through a lot of primaries before and everybody knows the procedure, you could see there was no campaigning on the elections ground because all the aspirants already went to the delegates to campaign with their message.”

“The votes were cast very peaceful and at the end of the day, His Excellency the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and the incoming President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has won” he said.

At the end of the Saturday Super Delegates polls in the Northern Region, Dr Bawumia obtained 47 votes out of a total voter number of 51.

The Assin Central Member of Parliament, Hon Kennedy Agyapong had 2 votes, former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong had 1 vote with one rejected ballot.

Former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten and the other six aspirants all had zero in the region.

In his remarks, the Northern Regional Chairman noted this is victory for the NPP and none of the aspirants has won. “To me, the party has won and nobody has won and nobody has lost” he emphasized.

Nonetheless, he said the results represent the will of the people and urged all party faithful to respect and support the decision of the delegates, adding this is a democratic exercise and the most important thing is for the party to come together and strongly forge ahead.

Asked whether he was disappointed that the Vice President couldn’t get 100 percent endorsement in the region, Chairman Samba swiftly responded that, “I am not disappointed. Why not, it is an election and when you’re going for an election, your target is 100 percent but if you don’t get and get above 90 percent, it is an achievement. The Northern Region has delivered 94 percent and it tells you that we’re solidly behind the Vice President”.

Meanwhile, in his home backyard, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia swept all the votes in the North East Region and also convincingly won in the Upper East, Upper West and Savannah Regions.
