EDA supports Students and Women Group at Mbanaa Yili

EDA foundation whose sole mission is to support the marginalized in society has on Saturday March 13,2021, made a cash donation to some selected students of the Tamale Technical University (TaTU), to help cater for their educational needs.

The six beneficiary students who were fortunate to receive this support were chosen after a thorough investigation and scrutiny for brilliant but needy students in the institution.

In an interview with FiilaNews the Officer in charge of students records at TaTU who also doubles as the Project coordinator and Representative of EDA in the Northern Region,  Mr Marvin Akyea noted that the foundation is doing this gesture as their pilot project and is hopeful EDA will cover more beneficiaries in the near future.

He noted that EDA Foundation will keep up the momentum to see multitudes benefiting from the kind gestures of EDA Foundation.

On his part Mr. Eric Dziedzorm Akukumah CEO EDA Foundation, pointed out that many students are so afraid to tap into available opportunities out there, hence limiting their scope to achieving more for themselves.

He used the opportunity to call on the less privileged in society to stop pity-patting under the pretext of being poor, and rather find solutions to their challenges.

In sharing his story as a young man, he recalled moments he had to work in restaurants as a cleaner and at some point a waiter, just to raise money to cater for his tertiary education.

This according to Mr Akukumah should be the way to go for the less privileged in society, rather than resorting to sit idle without doing nothing about their situation.

He stressed that though the cash amount donated is not a full scholarship, he is optimistic it will go a long way to help them on their tertiary educational journey at the Tamale Technical University (TaTU).

Meanwhile the donation was done in collaboration with Savanna Optical Services, who will be provide free eye screening and consultation to these beneficiaries.

The beneficiary students deemed it an honor to be chosen and are hopeful the philanthropic gesture by EDA Foundation extends to generations yet to come.

Meanwhile the foundation also visited a group of Shea  butter processors at Nbanaa Yili community to further donate some items to help in the discharge of their duties.

Some of the items donated include;Rice, Liquid Soap, Face mask,Veronica Buckets among several others.
