Central Business District of Tamale to be disinfected Thursday April 2nd 

Government through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in collaboration with Zoomlion will tomorrow commenced a disinfection exercise in Tamale.

The exercise forms part of government’s measures to fight the deadly coronavirus pandemic. A total of 107 markets will be disinfected in the northern region, consisting of all markets in all the districts in the region.

This was made known by the regional minister Salifu Saeed, during a press briefing a while ago. The minister underscored the need for all residence to corporate with the team for a successful exercise.

Market women, shop owner, chop bars, super markets, and financial institutions within the central business district are to close down on Thursday, 2nd April 2020 for the mass disinfection exercise of the metropolis. In an interview with the special assistant to the executive chair of zoomlion Nana Yaw Berima Twum Sarkodie I, Akwamuhene Akyem Awisa admonished market women to close early today to allow for cleaning of the earmarked areas for a successful exercise tomorrow.

He assured market women the exercise will be completed within the shortest possible time to enable markets reopen for use.

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development on Friday, 20th March, 2020 launched a nationwide disinfection exercise in Accra to fight the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Over 137 markets are set to be disinfected; with Upper East, Upper West, North East and Savanna regions  taking its turn today, Wednesday 1st April 2020, after Greater Accra ,Ashanti Regions, Bono and Ahafo took their turns earlier this week.
