Asante Kotoko confirm departure of 14 first-team players ahead of new Ghana Premier League season

The Kumasi-based club said the decision follows an assessment of the squad under a new technical structure led by director of football Stanley Menzo.

Kotoko said the review of players who were part of the squad during the 2025/26 campaign has now been completed, bringing the club’s player-exit process to an end.

Six players have left after their contracts expired.

They are goalkeeper Mohammed Camara, centre-backs Samba O’Neil and Henry Ansu, midfielder Baba Yahaya, and forwards Peter Amidu Acquah and Albert Amoah.

The club also confirmed that eight other players became free agents after reaching mutual agreements with Kotoko to terminate their contracts.

They are goalkeeper Benjamin Twum, centre-back Zackaria Fuseini, left-back Francis Acquah, midfielder Prince Badu and forwards Isaac Mintah, Kwame Opoku, Johnson Owusu and Elvis Kyei Baffour.

The departures represent a significant reshaping of the Kotoko squad as the club prepares for the new campaign under its new technical direction.

Kotoko have been active in the transfer market during the close season as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign.

The club have added several players, including goalkeepers Ibrahim Danlad and Moroccan youngster Abdelwadie Mourad, while also bringing back midfielder Richard Boadu.

Other new arrivals include Umar Ali, Emmanuel Sanja, Solomon Nsoh Asaah, Marius Koffi Bini Ange, Emmanuel Mamah, Isaac Opoku Agyemang and Aristote Tamuzi.

Kotoko will begin their league campaign away from home against newly promoted Debibi United.
