44 persons Certified as Electrical wiring professionals in Northern Ghana

The Energy Commission of Ghana in collaboration with the USAID has certified a total of 44 electrical wiring persons including 10 women, after undergoing the commission’s electrical wiring professional course.

The number forms part of the 50 candidates who were admitted to the ASAID and Power Africa sponsored four-week training in Tamale in 2021 after a thorough selection.

The training program aims at increasing the number of certified electrical wiring professionals in Ghana, with the goal of improving access to reliable and affordable grid-based power in the country.

Hon. William Owureku Aidoo Deputy Minister in charge of power stated in his submission that  the northern sector recorded the least number of certified electrical wiring professionals which makes it a bigger challenge in achieving access to electricity in urban communities.

It is in this regard that the government of Ghana in collaboration with the US government has taken up the gesture of training youth in this country in certified electrical wiring course to fill up the gap.

He minister added that the energy commission in collaboration with the ministry called for the implementation of the wiring regulations to ensure that the safety of life’s and wiring is held sacrosanct.

He thus urged the professionals to drum home the need for the youth to take up technical trainings to help reduce the unemployment situation in the country.

On her part the special guest for the occasion Her Excellency Veginia Palmer US Ambassador to Ghana noted that the certification of these professionals means power to schools, hospitals and various government installations that will serve the good people of Ghana.

She admonished the graduates to execute their duties professionally enough in order not to engage in any shoddy work which can cause people their lives and property at last.

The 44 certified wiring professionals were awarded certificates upon completion and given startup tool box and working gears to enable them start well as professionals.

The 44 newly graduated professionals adds up to the 11,500 wiring professionals in the country who have been trained by the energy commission since the introduction of the wiring regulations in 2004.
