World Cup 2026: Laryea Kingston urges tactical tweaks for Ghana v Croatia clash
Former Ghana international and Uganda U-17 coach, Laryea Kingston, has called for slight tactical adjustments from the Black Stars as they continue their FIFA World Cup campaign.

Kingston’s remarks come on the back of Ghana’s impressive defensive display in their goalless draw against England, a result that underlined the team’s resilience and organisation.
The Black Stars have collected four points from their opening two matches, having defeated Panama before holding England to a stalemate, placing themselves in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stages.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Kingston expressed confidence in the quality within the Ghana squad, insisting the team possesses enough attacking talent to trouble any side at the tournament.
The former winger believes Ghana’s performances so far have been encouraging, but stressed that refining their tactical approach could significantly improve their chances of making a deep run at the World Cup.
“We have all the weapons to hurt any opponent,” Kingston said.
While acknowledging that Ghana’s current game plan has produced positive results, Kingston warned that upcoming opponents, particularly Croatia, would have closely studied the Black Stars’ previous matches.
“I believe it has worked for us, but against Croatia, I know they have seen our games and will definitely find solutions to our low block,” he added.
Ghana currently sits second in the group, level on points with England but behind on goal difference.
The Black Stars will now turn their attention to a crucial clash against Croatia, knowing that a positive result would secure qualification to the Round of 32 for the first time since their historic run to the quarter-finals at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
