2026 World Cup: Carlos Queiroz must be firm and demanding – Ex-Black Stars winger David Accam
Former Black Stars winger David Accam has called on head coach Carlos Queiroz to adopt a firm and authoritative approach as Ghana intensifies preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The experienced Portuguese tactician was appointed in April on a short-term deal, replacing Otto Addo, with expectations high that he can steady the team ahead of the global showpiece.
Accam believes Queiroz’s arrival presents Ghana with a valuable opportunity to rebuild and re-establish itself on the international stage, given the coach’s extensive background in elite football management.
The 73-year-old has previously handled top national teams and clubs, a pedigree Accam says could be vital to Ghana’s resurgence.
“Carlos Queiroz is a big coach. He has coached top teams and countries, so I do not think this challenge is too big for him,” Accam told Graphic Sports.
“He has the experience. What he needs to do is be firm, stamp his authority on the team and bring something different from what we have seen before.
“Hopefully, he can build a solid team that plays as one and fights to win for the country,” he added.
Ghana, set for their fifth World Cup appearance, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
The Black Stars have already arrived in the United States and will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before taking on England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium, and wrapping up their group matches against Croatia on June 27.
As part of their final preparations, Ghana will play a warm-up friendly against Jamaica on June 10.
