2026 World Cup: Black Stars have individual players and not a team – David Accam
Former Black Stars forward David Accam has voiced concern about the current state of Ghana’s national team as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

His remarks come amid growing debate over the team’s inconsistency, despite a squad featuring several players active in top European leagues.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia for the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Black Stars are currently stepping up their preparations, with an international friendly against Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium forming part of their build-up.
Speaking to Graphic Sports, Accam delivered a blunt assessment of the team’s recent performances, insisting that Ghana’s main challenge is not talent, but cohesion and identity.
“We have individuals and not a team,” Accam said.
“Every time I watch them [Black Stars], it is difficult to see them play as a team. It is difficult to identify a style of play or a tactical approach. Most of the time, we rely on individual players to produce something special,” he added.
Ghana have already arrived in the United States ahead of the tournament. They will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 and concluding their group stage against Croatia on June 27.
The Black Stars will round off their preparations with a final warm-up fixture against Jamaica on June 10.
