We need to take our chances – Antoine Semenyo on Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup qualification

Black Stars striker, Antoine Semenyo says they have their 'future in their hands' as they seek to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

After a poor start to the qualifiers, the Black Stars after recording back-to-back wins against Mali and Central African Republic continued their run as they hammered Chad 5-0 last weekend at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Semenyo who was on the scoresheet as the Black Stars secured the top spot in Group I says playing on the global stage is the dream of every player.

He further charged his teammates to record a win against Madagascar to enhance their chances of qualifying for the Mundial which will be hosted in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

“I think anyone wants to play at the World Cup; not many players can say they’ve played at the World Cup. So, we have such a good opportunity to qualify now. First, we need to win these two games,” he told SuperSport.

“Playing on the biggest stage in the world, everyone loves to play, but not everyone loves to watch players play in the World Cup.

“So for us, we’ve got the opportunity in our hands, so we just need to take it,” he added.

Ghana will be hosted at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium for their Matchday six games against the Barea with kick-off scheduled at 19:00 GMT.
