2026 World Cup Qualifier: Asare or Ati-Zigi? Tough goalkeeper decision for Otto Addo for Madagascar tie
Black Stars coach Otto Addo has been presented with a huge dilemma as he thinkers on his goalkeeping options for the game against Madagascar on Monday evening in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare was handed his debut in the game against Chad last Friday, staring ahead of first-choice shot-stopper Lawrence Ati Zigi.
The decision, although surprising, left Ghanaians excited as the home-based goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in the World Cup qualifier.
However, Asare never really got tested by the Chadians, who are relatively a weaker side compared to Monday’s opponents, Madagascar.
Addo will have to make a decision to either pick the experienced Ati Zigi or keep faith in Asare after his performance against Chad.
According to the Black Stars trainer, the decision to start Asare against Chad was because of his performance during training.
“I think he did well in training, we observed all three, we saw a lot of games from all of them. It was a close race. They all did well in training, I have to say. But Benjamin did a bit better. That’s why we decided at the end to play,” he said.
The Black Stars are currently top of Group I and a win in Morocco on Monday night will boost their chances of qualifying for the tournament next year.
