Transport Minister defends appointment of director for non-existent Keta Port

The Transport Minister has defended government’s decision to appoint a director for the yet-to-be constructed Keta Port in the Volta Region. Kweku Ofori Asiamah told Parliament Tuesday that President Akufo-Addo appointed Dr Alexander Adusei Junior as a means to accelerate the promise he made to electorates in 2016.

According to him, despite the absence of physical construction ongoing, a lot of progress has been made in that regard.

Answering a question from the Keta MP, Richard Quashigah on the appointment of Dr Adusei Junior in 2018, he said it was justifiable as the appointee had the technical expertise.

Dr Adusei was appointed despite criticisms that there were already five directors of ports who could take care of business and there was no need for adding another person.
