Savannah: Muslim community urge Akufo-Addo to retain North Gonja DCE

The Muslim community in the north Gonja District is calling on President Akufo-Addo to maintain the District Chief Executive for the area, Adam Eliasu Bawa in office.

They made the call at a press conference of the Coalition of Muslim Imams of various communities in the district in Daboya addressed by Hassan Yahaya Mohammed, the Chief Imam of Ahlasunna Waljama on Monday 15th March 2021.

They said Mr. Bawa has “distinguished himself in discharging his duties as a DCE and has done so perfectly by pushing government business in harmony with all the relevant stakeholders in the district.”

According to them, “one clear evident of his output is the delivery of the Daboya/Mankarigu Constituency seat for the first time to the New Patriotic Party since its creation which due to his demeanor in handling the grassroots and that at large made the party attractive to many people in the constituency, thereby making us abandoned our long-held wrong perception about the NPP.”

It is therefore their “conviction that Mr. Adam Eliasu when retained as our DCE will further entrench the success of your government in the District and continuation of very important projects, programmes and policies.”

“It is on the back of this outstanding performance that We, the above Group of Imams want to call on the appointing Authority in the person of His Excellency the President of the republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, that, if He won’t promote MR ADAM ELIASU to a higher office, then he should maintain him as our DCE, fore the mantra of the NPP going into the 2020 election was “One good term deserves another,” the statement reared.

Mr. Adam Eliasu Bawa has been serving as the DCE for the district since 2017 under President Akuffo Addo and now in an acting capacity.
