Prince Yaw Owusu steps down from role as Kotoko’s interim head coach

Ghanaian tactician Prince Yaw Owusu has stepped down from his role as the interim head coach of Asante Kotoko.

According to an official statement from the Kumasi-based club, the gaffer has officially submitted his resignation letter, stating that his decision is in the best interest of the club.

Prince Owusu was appointed interim head coach of Kotoko on February 9, 2026, after the club parted ways with former coach Abdul Karim Zito. Unfortunately, the results under the coach have been below expectations, leading to calls for his sacking.

In Kotoko’s statement announcing the decision of the coach to resign, the club expressed appreciation to Prince Yaw Owusu and wished him the best in the next chapter of his career.

“Interim Head Coach Prince Yaw Owusu has stepped down from his role with immediate effect. The coach stated in his resignation letter that his decision was taken in the greatest interest of the club.

“Management expresses its sincere appreciation to Coach for his service, dedication, and commitment during his time with the club, and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours,” parts of the statement from Kotoko said.

Meanwhile, Youth Team Coach Hamza Obeng has been asked to take charge of Asante Kotoko for the remaining games of the season.
