President Mahama announces Chereponi–Bunkpurugu road project, assures fair development across regions

President John Dramani Mahama has assured residents along the Eastern Corridor of the Northern Region that the government is taking concrete steps to improve road infrastructure in the area.
According to the President, plans are far advanced for the construction of the Chereponi–Bunkpurugu road. He indicated that the government is expected to return to the area soon for the official sod-cutting ceremony to commence the project.
President Mahama gave this assurance during a stop in Bimbilla, in the Nanumba North District, as part of his ongoing “Resetting Ghana” tour.
Addressing chiefs and residents, he emphasised his administration’s commitment to equitable national development, particularly in the delivery of road infrastructure across all regions.
He disclosed that between 2025 and 2026, the government has awarded contracts covering over 2,000 kilometres of roads nationwide, at an estimated cost of 50 billion Ghana cedis, describing it as the largest single investment in road construction in the country’s history.
President Mahama further assured the people of Bimbilla and surrounding communities that no region would be left out in the distribution of development projects.
“Every part of this country, every region, is receiving its fair share of road infrastructure. You will not be left out,” he stated.
He reiterated that his administration has awarded the highest number of road contracts since independence, underscoring the government’s determination to improve connectivity, stimulate economic activity, and enhance the quality of life for citizens.
