Norsaac Graduates 30 Youth Artisans with Skills, Toolkits, and Startup Support

Norsaac, a non-governmental organization committed to youth development and empowerment, has successfully graduated 30 young artisans after an intensive skills upgrade training in various trades, including tailoring, tile laying, and construction business.

The youth underwent advanced training designed to equip them with improved techniques and business skills to thrive in their respective fields. As part of the support package, Norsaac provided beneficiaries with startup toolkits and seed capital tailored to their individual business proposals.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Hafsatu Sey Sumani, Head of Program, Policy, and Influencing at Norsaac, said the initiative—known as the Business Development for Youth Artisans—was borne out of the organization’s observations of the challenges youth artisans face in sustaining their businesses.
“The program came up as a result of the gap we realized. Many young people have skills, but they find it difficult to sustain their businesses, especially in terms of attracting clients or getting people to patronize their services,” she explained. “So, we decided to introduce an advanced model of training to help them build sustainable businesses.”

Ms. Sumani emphasized that the selection process for the program was rigorous, as the organization sought to identify committed individuals with the drive to succeed and support others.
According to her, the project commenced in January, with beneficiary selection completed in February. The training has lasted nearly five months, and the project is expected to continue until January 2026.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with each participant to ensure commitment and knowledge-sharing.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to Fiila News expressed their gratitude to Norsaac for the support and pledged to extend the impact by training other underprivileged youth in their communities.
