Lack of planning cost Ghana’s defeat against Sudan – Ex-GFA Veep George Afriyie

Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie has attributed Black Stars' defeat to Sudan to a lack of proper planning and preparation. 

Ghana suffered a 2-0 defeat against the Falcons on Tuesday at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.

The defeat leave Black Stars’ hopes of qualifying for tge AFCON in Morroco next year hanging after massing two points after four games into the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

According to Mr Afriyie, the lack of proper planning on the part of GFA, the technical team and the Management Committee cost the Black Stars defeat against the Sudanese.

“I had the opportunity to watch both games and what cost us was lack of proper planning and these games, we had to play two games and I am still struggling to understand why Ghaba might not qualify for a 24-team tournament,” he told Asempa FM as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com.

“It is bad for us, and it is all about lack of proper planning on behalf of the coach, the Black Stars Management Committee, and the Ghana Football Association,” he added.

Ghana, who now sit 3rd I with two points after four games will wrap up their AFCON qualifiers with final games against Niger and Angola.

The Black Stars must win their remaining and hope Sudan loses their last two games to qualify for the tournament.
