Kurt Okraku reacts to Nsoatreman’s Ghana Premier League exit: “It’s very unfortunate”
Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has expressed regret over the withdrawal of Nsoatreman FC from the Ghana Premier League, describing the development as “very unfortunate.”

Nsoatreman, who won the MTN FA Cup last season and represented Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup earlier this season, pulled out of the league citing safety concerns.
Their decision followed a series of troubling incidents, including an attack on their team bus in the aftermath of a tragic event involving a Kotoko fan, Nana Pooley, who was fatally stabbed during a match between the two sides.
The fallout from that incident led to a suspension of the league, and although competition later resumed, pockets of violence re-emerged, with Nsoatreman again targeted while travelling for matches.
In an interview with Asempa FM, Okraku said: “It’s very unfortunate and for people who have invested in football to go through that is unfortunate. It’s their decision, and we need to respect their decision. I wish him well.”
Nsoatreman FC, bankrolled by former Sunyani West MP and Minister of Employment and Labour Relations Ignatius Baffuor Awuah, have since disbanded, leaving players without a club. Points from fixtures involving the team are now being awarded to their scheduled opponents.
