Hearts of Oak are spiritless – Yaw Preko
Former Medeama SC and Nsoatreman FC head coach Yaw Preko has expressed deep concern over what he describes as a lack of spirit within the current Hearts of Oak setup.

The Accra-based club is enduring a challenging 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season. With just five matches remaining, the Phobians are currently 6th on the table with 45 points — a far cry from their usual title-challenging form.
Reflecting on his experience facing his former side earlier in the season at the Nana Kronmansah Park, Preko admitted he was stunned by how uninspired Hearts of Oak looked during the game.
“I played against Hearts of Oak while I was coaching Nsoatreman, and the flair was not there,” Preko told Sporty FM.
“Something is missing, but I can not pinpoint what is missing. It was a difficult game, but it was also easy to play against Hearts of Oak.”
He added that the team appears devoid of energy and fighting spirit — a sharp contrast to the formidable aura they once carried.
“They look spiritless, and even when you are losing against them, you know you can rally back and beat them,” he added.
Hearts of Oak will be hoping to turn their fortunes around this Sunday when they welcome arch-rivals Asante Kotoko to the Accra Sports Stadium for their Matchday 30 clash. Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 GMT
