Haruna Iddrisu applauds WAEC Distinction award winners, urges integrity in exams

Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has commended the 2025 recipients of the WAEC Distinction Awards for their exceptional display of excellence and resilience.

The awards, sponsored by the WAEC Endowment Fund established in 1982, aim to recognise and reward outstanding performance by candidates in examinations conducted by the Council.

Speaking at the event on Thursday, June 26, the sector minister highlighted the role of these award schemes to eradicate examination malpractice and boost the integrity of Ghana’s education system.

“To GES, you have the full support of the state to deal with any student who engages in Examination malpractices.”
Overall best candidate of this year’s distinction awards ceremony, David Nii Commey Ankrah, has admonished candidates preparing for the 2025 WASSCE to strive for excellence and resist the urge to engage in acts of malpractice.

“We urge students to refrain from any examination malpractices. We need people with great integrity to build a better future.”
