According to the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, the initiative forms part of broader efforts to tackle unemployment while promoting sustainable economic growth.
In a renewed push to bridge the unemployment gap, the government says it is prioritizing support for private-led businesses to create environmentally friendly jobs.
Labour, Jobs and Employment Minister, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, said the programme will not only open new opportunities for young people but also help stabilize the country’s job market.
“This initiative is designed to create decent work for our youth while ensuring that we protect our environment and strengthen employment stability nationwide,” Dr. Pelpuo said.
The Green Jobs Policy, first launched in 2021, seeks to promote renewable energy, sustainable industries, and eco-friendly business practices. Under the initiative, the government is partnering with the private sector to develop more job opportunities while advancing environmental protection.
Officials say the Ministry is currently engaging key stakeholders to refine and streamline the policy for effective implementation.
