Ghana FA confirms Black Stars friendly against Japan in 2025 Kirin Challenge Cup
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially confirmed that the Black Stars will face Japan in the 2025 Kirin Challenge Cup as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The international friendly, scheduled for Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi, Japan, will serve as a key test for Otto Addo’s side as they fine-tune their strategies ahead of next year’s global showpiece in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Both Ghana and Japan have already secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup, making this encounter a valuable opportunity for tactical experimentation and squad evaluation.
The game will also help the Black Stars assess their readiness against top-level opposition from Asia, a region known for its discipline, pace, and technical precision.
Japan sealed their qualification with a 2-0 victory over Bahrain in March, while Ghana confirmed their ticket after edging Comoros 1-0 in Accra on Sunday.
Head coach Otto Addo is expected to use the Kirin Challenge Cup to test new players and build cohesion within the squad ahead of upcoming tournaments.
The match in Aichi will be the first leg of Ghana’s Asian tour, with another friendly scheduled against South Korea three days later in Seoul.
