GFA seeks CAF intervention as 500 Ghana fans miss out on Cote d’Ivoire tickets
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appealed to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to intervene after about 500 Ghanaian supporters travelled to Bouaké for Thursday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Cote d’Ivoire without tickets.
The supporters made the trip to back the Black Stars but have been unable to secure entry to Stade de la Paix, with the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) confirming that tickets for the Group C clash are sold out.
The GFA received its official ticket allocation during Wednesday’s Match Coordination Meeting (MCM), but the allocation falls short of the number of Ghanaian fans currently in Bouaké.
The association has therefore written to CAF requesting an additional block of about 500 tickets to allow the stranded supporters into the stadium for the highly anticipated fixture.
The GFA has also raised the matter with the Match Commissioner, who has assured the association of his assistance in resolving the situation.
With hundreds of Ghanaian supporters already in Bouaké, the GFA says it remains committed to finding a solution that will allow them to watch and support the Black Stars in their opening AFCON qualifying match.
