Get involved in a voluntary program this National Volunteers Day-Director of GhanaThink Foundation

Ghanaians all over the country have been urged to endeavor to volunteer their time on Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day (21 September, 2021), to serve communities in need whiles developing their skills in the area.

The day termed as the National Volunteer Day (NVDay)by the GhanaThink Foundation, is to help push for voluntary activities in the country to better livelihoods of the needy in society.

In a release copied to FiilaNews, the Director of GhanaThink Foundation, Ato Ulzen-Appiah encouraged more people to raise funds to support the needy during this year’s National Volunteer Day .

Meanwhile on his part the Head of Donor recruitment, South zonal blood centre, Mr. David Dodzi Ahiadzro indicated that since the general public is more used to the covid pandemic and can volunteer more safely, We are driving for more blood donations, the release added.

Your selfless gift of blood on this National Volunteer Day will put a smile on that person you never get to know in your life but who will be eternally grateful to you”.

Volunteering through the National Volunteer Day (NVDay), has enabled several people to gain leadership skills, teamwork, and other skills because it affords them the opportunity to learn on the job.

In 2013, the GhanaThink Foundation instituted National Volunteer Day-NVDay.

This was to encourage many people in Ghana to volunteer, make an impact in their communities, help solve problems in ways they could, and help people in need, the release noted.

September 21 every year is set aside to commemorate the birth of Ghana’s first President who was born in 1909, at Nkroful in the Western Region.

This will be the third time a holiday has been declared to celebrate the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day since Parliament approved of it in 2019.

Until 2019, September 21 each year was celebrated as a Founder’s Day public holiday to remember Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah as the founder of modern-day Ghana.
