The Municipal Chief Executive MCE of Sagnarigu, Hajia Mariam Iddrisu is of the conviction that the Free Senior High School is the surest solution to the high numbers of school dropout of the Girl Child.
This according to her has bridge the educational gap which was caused by financial constraints leading to higher records of early child marriages, teenage pregnancies among other social vices.
According to Hajia Mariam there is the need to catch the girl child younger to help build their capacities to bridge the gender equality gap at all levels.
She made this known in an interview with the media at a coaching and mentorship program organized by her office over the weekend, for female executives from all basic and tertiary institution in the Sagnarigu municipality.
Meanwhile the MCE is currently advocating for the introduction of a skills training in the educational curriculum, to help introduce gender equality and girls leadership skills training to inculcate good leadership habit in the girl child at the early stage.
She further called on MMDCE’s to emulate the gesture of training the girl child at the younger stage to build their capacities from the unset.
Speaking to some of the participants, the Girls prefect of Tishegu Anglican JHS block A in sharing what she leant indicated that she has learnt to be well positioned for future challenges.
The Girl’s Prefect of Tamasco Anarweh Polina said: ‘‘though there are circumstances which hinder our success she has been inspired to aim higher to achieve her futures aspirations through determinations and hardwork”.
The participants expressed their appreciation to the MCE indicating they will fight to be better people no matter the obstacles that may come their way.
