Former GFA Communications head Sannie Daara criticises lack of support for Kurt Okraku
Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has voiced his frustration with the Executive Council of the GFA for not publicly standing by its president, Kurt Okraku, and the association as a whole.
Okraku has faced criticism recently, with calls for his resignation amid declining performances from the Black Stars and other national teams.
In response, Sannie Daara, speaking to Asempa FM, urged the Executive Council members to step up their support and defend both the GFA and Okraku’s leadership.
“I am not impressed with how the Executive Council have supported Kurt Okraku and his administration,” he said.
“In times past, the Executive Council members were heavily involved in everything, but I don’t see that in this current administration. George Afriyie, Osei Palmer, and Kojo Yankah were all instrumental in Kwesi Nyantakyi’s administration but I do not see that under this administration.
“Since Black Stars last game against Sudan, I have not heard any member of the Executive Council member coming out to speak and defend the GFA, Kurt Okraku and the product.
Reflecting on the past, he mentioned that, during challenging times—including before and after the Anas expose – the Executive Council members stood together in support of Nyantakyi.
He called for a similar unified approach to bolster Okraku’s leadership.
“Before and after Anas’ exposè, all the members of the Executive Council were together and supported Kwesi Nyantakyi and that is what must happen,” he added.
