FDA seizes unapproved products in market crackdown across Ghana
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has intensified its market surveillance efforts, seizing several unapproved products circulating in the Ghanaian market.
This action comes in the wake of the FDA sanctioning over 100 manufacturing companies across the country from January to date for advertising unapproved products.
During a recent operation with the media, the team lead for Market Surveillance, James Aboakye, urged the public to be vigilant.
He advised consumers to carefully check details on products, including food, medicine, personal care items like shower gels, and others, to ensure they meet FDA standards.
“We conducted market surveillance activities, and these are some of the activities we do on a daily basis. Based on the intelligence we have on our schedules, we visit districts in different locations and we conduct the exercise in different facilities, pharmacies, marts, shops, those selling households, and all that. Provided that they are selling foods that are regulated by the FDA.”
