CAF launches investigation into Nigeria’s distressing stranding at Libyan airport

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) says it will investigate the disturbing incident involving Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, who found themselves stranded under harsh conditions at a Libyan airport.
In a statement released on Monday, CAF revealed that it has been in contact with both Libyan and Nigerian authorities to address the situation and has referred the matter to its Disciplinary Board for a thorough investigation.
According to the statement, the Super Eagles and their technical team were allegedly directed by Libyan authorities to land at a different airport, which led to their unfortunate predicament.
CAF stated that “appropriate action will be taken against those who violated the CAF Statutes and Regulations.”
The incident drew condemnation from Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, who described the treatment of the Super Eagles as “the most unfortunate situation.”
The team was reportedly left without food or aviation fuel and was forced to refuel quickly.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has withdrawn from the upcoming match, prioritising the team’s safety.
