Asante Kotoko arrive in Ghana without two Sudanese players

Asante Kotoko returned to Ghana after their trip to Washington for the Capital City Africa Cup, but the team is missing two Sudanese players, Esmat AbdalHamid Mohamed and Obdoelkarem Yoouef Yagoub.

The duo left the team’s hotel without permission on Friday, October 11, and have not been heard from since.

Their absence has raised concerns, prompting the club to notify law enforcement authorities in the United States as they seek to ensure the players’ safe return.

In a statement released on Sunday, the club expressed regret over the situation, saying, “Asante Kotoko SC regrets to inform our supporters and the public that two players, Esmat AbdalHamid Mohamed and Obdoelkarem Yoouef Yagoub, both Sudanese nationals, are currently missing from the camp.”

Kotoko faced challenges in securing visas for their full squad, which resulted in the formation of the Ghana Week DC Select Side. This team, featuring five Kotoko players among others, went on to win their match against D.C. United 2-1.
