CAF Confederation Cup: Dreams FC coach Karim Zito proud of players after semi-final exit

Dreams FC coach, Abdul Karim Zito, has lauded his players after their fairytale run in the CAF Confederation Cup came to an end following a semi-final defeat to Egyptian giants Zamalek.

The Still Believe lads lost 3-0 to the former champions in Kumasi after Hamza Mathlouthi and Samson Akiyoola scored two quick goals for the visitors in the first half before Mostafa Shalaby added the third after the break.

Despite the defeat, Zito is proud of his players and hopes to return to the competition next year.

“We couldn’t make it to the final. But I’m proud of the boys and myself. We go home and come back again next year. No one gave us the chance to get here. So we can be proud of the journey,” he said during the post-match presser.

Dreams FC will now switch their attention to the Ghana Premier League where they have three games at hand.

Meanwhile, they could return to the CAF Confederation Cup next season if they successfully defend their FA Cup title.
