Black Queens to face Ecuador, Uzbekistan and Papua New Guinea in FIFA Women’s World Cup play-offs

Ghana’s Black Queens will face Ecuador, Uzbekistan and Papua New Guinea in the preliminary phase of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 Play-Off Tournament.

The Black Queens missed out on automatic qualification after losing 2-1 to eventual finalists Malawi in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana recovered from the setback by defeating Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 in the play-in match to secure a place in the intercontinental play-offs.

The Black Queens will open their campaign against Ecuador in November before taking on Uzbekistan later in the same month.

Ghana will then face Papua New Guinea in December to complete the preliminary phase.

The six-team preliminary phase will see the top two teams advance to the final phase of the play-offs, where they will compete for places at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Ghana will be aiming to navigate the play-offs successfully and secure a return to the Women’s World Cup.
