Ghana to build 10 new stadia under Mahama government – Sports Minister Kofi Adams confirms
Ghana's government is set to build 10 new stadia across the country after President John Mahama reviewed an earlier plan to construct six mini stadia, Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has announced.

Mr Adams said the revised plan would see stadia constructed in all six newly created regions, alongside four other regions.
The minister made the announcement while speaking at the Ghana Football Association’s 32nd Ordinary Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence in Prampram.
“Let me announce that John Mahama made a promise to build six mini stadia for the six new regions, but I dare tell you that the president has reviewed that decision and he is no longer going to build the six mini stadia. He is going to build 10 stadia,” Mr Adams, who is also the MP for Buem, said.
Under the revised plan, Western North, Oti, Ahafo, Bono East, Savannah and North East regions will each receive a new stadium.
The remaining four stadia will be constructed in the Upper East, Upper West and Volta regions, with one additional facility also included in the government’s plan.
Mr Adams said the government had already taken steps towards implementing the project, with the Finance Minister issuing commencement authorisation.
“The Finance Minister has issued commencement authorisation, and we are going through the processes to get these contracts awarded, and they will move to sites immediately,” he added.
The announcement forms part of the government’s broader plans to improve sports infrastructure and provide facilities for football and other sporting activities across the country.
The construction of the new stadia is expected to provide additional venues for domestic football while expanding access to sporting facilities beyond Ghana’s major cities.
