Assistant coach Roger De Sa reveals Black Stars contract was only for World Cup 2026
Black Stars assistant coach Roger De Sa has disclosed that his contract with Ghana’s national team was limited to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The South African tactician joined the Black Stars technical team ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico after Carlos Queiroz was appointed as head coach following the dismissal of Otto Addo.
De Sa, a former goalkeeper and experienced coach, explained that his agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) covered only the World Cup period and will officially expire at the end of July.
“I was only contracted until the end of July, so that’s it,” De Sa told KickOff.
“My contract was just for the World Cup, and it ends on the 31st of July,” he added.
During Ghana’s World Cup campaign, the Black Stars began with a narrow 1-0 victory over Panama before securing a goalless draw against England. They concluded the group stage with a 2-1 defeat to Croatia, finishing third in Group L with four points.
Ghana advanced to the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams but saw their tournament come to an end after a 1-0 loss to Colombia in the Round of 32.
Following their World Cup exit, the Black Stars will now turn their attention to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Ghana has been placed in Group C alongside Côte d’Ivoire, Somalia and The Gambia, with the qualifying campaign scheduled to commence in September.
