Asantehemaa’s funeral: Otumfuo continues to sit in state despite disruption by rain

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has continued to show his respect and devotion to the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, despite the rainfall on the second day of her burial rites.

The ceremony, which started on September 15, will continue until September 18, with Otumfuo sitting in state to receive homage from sympathizers and dignitaries.

 

Otumfuo sits in state at the Manhyia Palace, receiving visitors and paying homage to his mother, while chiefs and dignitaries from all walks of life attend the ceremony, wearing traditional attire and showing respect to the late Asantehemaa.

It rained for almost an hour, yet the King still stayed until the rain stopped.

 

Otumfuo’s commitment of showing respect to the late Asantehemaa, Nana Yaa Konadu III despite rainfall on both day 1 and 2 has got a lot of Ghanaians talking about his leadership qualities as the King of the Asante Kingdom.

The burial rites are a significant cultural event, showcasing the rich traditions and customs of the Asante Kingdom.

His role in the ceremony highlights his importance as a custodian of tradition and culture of the Kingdom.

The event brings together people from all walks of life, demonstrating the impact of the late Asantehemaa on the society.

Other dignitaries who have showed up at the event include former President John Agyekum Kufuor, and other high-ranking officials for the first two days.

A lot of performances have taken place including the display of traditional regalia, music, and dance, showcasing the cultural heritage of the Asante Kingdom.
