2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Sudan v Ghana will be played on astroturf pitch – GFA confirms

The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has confirmed that the Black Stars’ upcoming match against Sudan will take place on an astroturf pitch.
Ghana is looking for its first victory in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers as they prepare to face Sudan in the second leg of their doubleheader at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya. The first leg, held last Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium, ended in a goalless draw.
In an interview with Asempa FM as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com ahead of Tuesday’s match, Asante Twum noted, “Before the team departed from Accra, we were aware that the game would be played on an astroturf pitch.
“Sudan are playing their home games in their country, and we are aware that on that particular stadium, Libya plays international and league matches there.
“We just have to prepare ourselves and get ready for the game. We can’t blame Sudan for that,” he added.
The Black Stars arrived in Libya on Sunday and are scheduled to hold their mandatory training session at the Martyrs of February Stadium later tonight.
Following two draws and a defeat, Ghana is eager to secure a win. The match is set to kick off at 13:00 GMT.
Due to ongoing civil unrest in Sudan, the team has been forced to play their home games in Libya.
