2025 AFCON qualifiers: Several European players to be dropped for Angola and Niger games
Ghana head coach Otto Addo is expected to make significant changes to his Black Stars squad for the final two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Among the changes, several players based in top European leagues will not be included in the squad for these matches.
Many of these players have delivered standout performances for their clubs but have failed to replicate that form when playing for the senior national team.
The specific players to be dropped from the squad are not yet known.
Ghana is set to face Angola on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda.
Three days later, the Black Stars will host Niger in their final qualifying match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18.
Ghana currently sits third in Group F with two points from four games, five points behind second-placed Sudan and ten points behind Angola, who sit at the top of the group.
Qualification is entirely out of the Black Stars’ hands. To qualify, Ghana must win its remaining games and hope Sudan loses theirs.
A draw for Sudan would mean Ghana will not qualify for the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.
