2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Mohammed Kudus fails to inspire Black Stars to victories against Sudan

Attacker Mohammed Kudus has failed to inspire the Black Stars to a win in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

The West Ham United forward was named as the skipper for the side after Thomas Partey failed to show up for the doubleheader against Sudan in the qualifiers.

The 23-year-old was hoping to steer the team to victories but failed to inspire the side.

In the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium, last week Thursday, the Black Stars were held to a goalless scoreline despite creating several chances.

In the return leg staged at the Martyrs of February Stadium today, October 15, the Black Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat.

Goals from Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud and Mohamed Abdelrahman in the second half sealed the win for the Falcons.

The results leave Ghana at the 3rd pot in Group F with just two points after four games.

The Black Stars will wrap up their qualifiers with games against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium before travelling to play Angola in Luanda next month.

It remains to be seen if Mohammed Kudus will captain the team for the final two games.
