2025 AFCON Qualifiers: I don’t think he will play for Ghana – Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde confirms Inaki Williams will miss Angola, Niger games

Athletic Bilbao coach, Ernesto Valverde has confirmed that Inaki Williams will miss Ghana's final games of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The 30-year-old suffered an injury in his left hamstring muscles which ruled him out for their 1-1 draw against Real Valladolid over the weekend.

With the Black Stars set to take on Angola and Niger, Valverde has confirmed that Williams will not feature in the games due to the injury.

“I don’t think he’ll be able to play this time because he hasn’t been able to be here with us,” he said.

Inaki Williams was named in Black Stars’ 25-man squad for the games. Meanwhile, the team will open camp in Accra later today and will hold their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium at 17:00 GMT which will open to the public.

Tuesday’s training session will be held behind closed doors before departing for Luanda on Wednesday.

The Black Stars are aiming to qualify for the 2025 tournament in Morocco against all odds after a poor start.

Ghana will face Angola on November 15 at the Estádio 11 de Novembro, followed by a home match against Niger Republic three days later at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Black Stars currently sit in third place in Group F, with only two points from their four matches, trailing both Palancas Negras and Sudan.
