According to the police, the illegal assembly of firearms and ammunition was for reprisal attacks.

He added that police were also on a manhunt for two landlords whose houses were used for harbouring the illegal firearms and ammunition.

DCOP Gariba, appealed to the people of the region to seek redress for disputes in court, adding that, the police have resolved to deal ruthlessly with persons harbouring weapons to destabilise the peace in the region.

“We want to encourage the residents to be law-abiding because insecurity will not help anybody. Development must go on in the region, and it needs peace.”

“The Intelligence operation in the entire region will ensure that the residents will have peace to go about their business without any intimidation. I assure residents that all security forces are going to work hand-in-hand to conduct intelligence-led operations to raid the area of anyone in possession of these goods,” he added.
